I think the problem is that, Rust is over-pitched for prototyping. The language has many design constraints outside of memory safety (no aliasing pointers, no mutable singletons) , while good for a very well defined project, aren't the best for a prototype, a project which doesn't yet have clear goals or boundaries yet.
